Creating Unity in our Community

Salinas United Business Association

The SUBA Business Improvement District (BID) was established for the purpose of improving the business environment in the Alisal district of Salinas by providing local business with the support and resources they need to be successful.

The SUBA BID is divided into four areas represented by board members from each respective area. The board of directors consists of a total of 10 voting members as well as three city council members and one liasion member from the redevelopment agency.

Our objective in creating this webpage is to keep our members informed and up-to-date on the issues that affect (or have the potential to affect) The New Alisal Business District.  We will also use this webpage to keep you informed of SUBA's activities and our progress in transforming east Salinas into a better place to do business, live, and visit.

Celebration of Small Businesses in Monterey County

Friday, May 8, 2015 from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM Please join Congressman Sam Farr and the Monterey County Business Council as we pay tribute to the determination and entrepreneurial spirit of Monterey County small business owners.  Small business owners are the backbone of our economy and deserve our recognition and gratitude, which we will proudly provide at our "Celebration of Small Businesses in Monterey County" on Friday, May 8, 2015.  In conjunction with the SBA's National Small Business Week, our celebration will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. at Bayonet Blackhorse Grill, 1 McClure Way, Seaside.

The event will consist of a keynote presentation from Congressman Sam Farr as well a panel of local lenders who will discuss ongoing loan programs.  In addition, there will be a brief overview presentation on the Monterey Bay Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) and its services to assist small businesses in obtaining and performing under federal, state and local government contracts. Visit www.montereybayptac.org to learn more and register your business. The final part of the program will feature our designated Small Businesses of the Year from around Monterey County, nominated by local lenders.

Lenders and financial institutions that serve Monterey County small businesses can participate by nominating up to three local businesses for which they have provided a small  business loan in the past  24 months.  For more details on nominating a business as an "outstanding Small Business in Monterey County," or for sponsorship info, contact  MCBC Executive Director Brian Turlington at 883-9443 or via email at bturlington@mcbc.biz.  For $500, local lender sponsors will receive the following: (i) listing on event program; (ii) recognition at event; (iii) recognition in all marketing publications; (iv) recognition in Friday Facts, our weekly email newsletter; and (v) two (2) tickets and preferred seating.
